2015 Advent Day 25

This year there is an Encore.

Saugatuck Brewing Company
Gingerbread Cookie Ale

Poured golden with an aggressive, short lived head.

I don't know how much my cold is interfering, but I didn't find any gingerbread flavour here at all, just a fairly highly carbonated brown ale.  Not too hoppy as it turns out.  I was on guard as the included glass seemed to be in the IPA style.

I really enjoyed the calendar overall this year with only a few selections not to my liking.  And I received another calendar for Christmas so I can enjoy these beers one more time.

My disappointment is with the number of beers that were Brewed exclusively for the calendar.  When I find one I really like, I would like to think I can go and buy it at a specialty store later.  I think there are enough beers out there that they shouldn't need to invent unique beers for the calendar.  Please fill it with regularly Brewer beers next year.

2015 Advent Day 23

Sound Brewery
Old Yonder Star XMas Ale (7.3%)

Poured dark with a medium head.

Malty and fruity, and a little bit tart.  I think I would enjoy it more without the tartness, but that is not making it a bad beer.  I enjoyed it.

2015 Advent Day 22

Yukon Brewing
Longest Night Strong Ale (6%)

Poured black as night with a medium head

Nice roasted malts and well balanced hops, except towards the bottom of the glass it got a little more bitter.  Still, a good beer from a good brewery.  Worth Freezin' for.

2025 Advent Day 21

Clown Shoes
Bombay Berserker Imperial Stout (10%)

Poured black with a medium head.

Curiously, in addition to the regular robust  flavours of a stout, I perceived a hint of mint in this one.  It went down pretty easy with no real perception of the high alcohol level.

2015 Advent, Day 20

Paddock Wood Brewing Co.
Marzyana Belfian Tripel (9.2%)

Poured an unfiltered peach Color with a thin head.

I am a fanboy of the Belgian Tripel style of beer, but not of this one, I'm afraid.  It has most of the attributes but just comes off to bitter at the end for me to enjoy.  In fact it got more bitter towards the bottom of the glass.  A bit disappointed in this one.
